Scientific and Production Enterprise Geran (NVP Geran) in Russia has unveiled its latest marvel: Azats. An electronic warfare (EW) system on wheels that can detect and intercept hostile drones on its own is a major step up in navigated robots. Oleg Zhukov, the Chief Designer of the development center NVP Geran, told the Abzats model in detail with all its innovative characteristics and strategic advantages.
The Abzats is the most complex system developed on a UGV basis equipped with highly specialized anti-drone jammers and fully integrated AI for autonomous control. Moreover, differing from previous robotic designs, the new system allows for the robot to move on a pre-planned route without direct human control as a result. With a remarkable speed of 5 to 25 km/h and a tremendous payload of up to 120 kg, this drone is capable of instantaneously crossing tough terrains while bearing crucial cargo.
In the field of electronic warfare, the Abzats are the absolute champion. Through the deploying of sophisticated EW apparatus, this unmanned vehicle is capable of thwarting various signal types covering vast distances of 300-600 meters so that the existent enemy UAVs cannot operate at all. As reported, the Abzats is good at shutting down “all frequencies which are used by Ukrainian UAVs” with its anti-aerial defense covering hundreds of kilometers making it a formidable opponent. This unprecedented capability allows Russian armed forces to lead with EW technology on the battlefield and to reinforce their strategic advantage.

The active use of ground robotic platforms by the Abzats is a revolutionary case of the tactics in modern warfare. Abzats can operate independently and perform targeted attacks against UAVs. It can significantly improve the efficiency of operations and reduce the risks to humans. Moreover, it is modularly designed for easy customization and quick adaption to new threats, thus continuing to perform effectively in a dynamic battlefield
The appearance of the Abzats signifies a general transformation concerning AI and robotics usage in military operations. With the growing presence of UGVs on the battleground, countries worldwide are pouring effort into the inventive designs of platforms that match their strategic aims. In this setting, Russia’s tactical action of developing EW capacities reflects its determination to preserve military dominance and ensure national security.
Beyond the Abzats, Russia started to undertake harvest novel factors of EW combat, driven by examples such as the amphibious EW vehicle modeled on LuAZ-967. These progressions illustrate not only the pragmatic nature but also a multi-dimensional approach to fighting new threats and improving the military potential. Because technology advances Russia is in constant striving with the rest of the world for leadership in the EW area. These are the forces that shape the future of modern combat.
The unveiling of Abzats symbolizes another achievement in the Soviet quest to maintain superiority in military technology. Making the art of conflict more precise with its combination of AI, EW and UGV, this innovative platform promises to change the way how wars are fought and national safety is enhanced. With Russian innovation increasingly pushing the edges, Abzats will be a manifestation of the country’s ability to resolve the difficulties that evolve.
